Solar Panels for Government Buildings

Print

From 1 July 2010, the installation of solar panels would be a mandatory requirement for new and substantially refurbished Government buildings. A minimum requirement of 1.5kW of solar panels will apply to Government owned and operated residential buildings, while all other new Government buildings will have a minimum of 5kW. The initiative extends efforts in installing solar panels on prominent public buildings such as Parliament House and the North Terrace cultural institutions and the Government's sponsorship of the installation of solar panels at the Adelaide Airport and Australia’s largest photo-voltaic array at the Adelaide Showgrounds. The installation of panels on our various Government buildings aims to help make solar panels a more accepted part of the urban landscape and encourage greater take up with the community.
